Sotheby’s Artist Quarterly
Works by Max Freund
“SPOONS OF TIME”
Vernissage, 10 October, 5-8pm
7 October – 19 December
Monday to Friday 9 am–5 pm
The exhibition Spoons of Time by Max Freund (*1992) at Sotheby’s Artist Quarterly delves into the concept of time as a fundamental force shaping both daily lives and artistic endeavors. Through various (encoded) motifs and symbols recurring persistently throughout his paintings and collages, Freund examines and deconstructs the nature of temporality playfully yet profoundly. Additionally, the motif of the spoon—an otherwise mundane object—is transformed into a visual metaphor for exhaustion and serves as a philosophical lens through which societal perceptions are interrogated.
