Achieving a total of €7.54 million, the 20th Century Design sale set the Parisian auction sphere alight. This auction is a record for a sale of 20th Century Design at Sotheby's France, excluding private collections. In an electric atmosphere, no less than 73% of the lots exceeded their high estimate. The coveted 8-lot collection of Jean-Michel Frank sold for €1,035,900, and Jean Royere’s collection of 21 lots generated a total of €1,436,500. The highest bid of the sale was prompted by the Troupeau de moutons by François-Xavier Lalanne, from 1996-1998, which sold for €409,500. Last but not least, the “Boule” sofa by Jean Royère sold for €397,500, setting a world record price for a sofa at auction.
