Global Participation Propels Contemporary Art Evening to 242.2 Million

The 13 November 2013 Contemporary Art Evening auction achieved $380.6 million, making it the highest-grossing sale in Sotheby’s history. The auction was led by Andy Warhol's Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster) which sold for a historic $105 million. Works by Cy Twombly, Agnes Martin, Martin Kippenberger, Brice Marden, Bruce High Quality Foundation and Mark Bradford also set records.
