Overview

OVERVIEW

On 13 November the Contemporary Art Evening Auction in New York will present one of the most remarkable paintings of the Post-War era: Andy Warhol’s Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster) from 1963, a monumental testament to History Painting in the 20th century. This masterpiece is complemented by other historic examples of Pop Art by Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, as well as Abstract Expressionist works by Willem de Kooning and Clyfford Still. A selection of works by Cy Twombly, Barnett Newman and John Chamberlain from the highly celebrated Dia Art Foundation will be perfectly accompanied by works by Donald Judd, Brice Marden, Agnes Martin and Frank Stella. Superb examples of more recent decades include works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Maurizio Cattelan, Martin Kippenberger, Gerhard Richter and Rudolf Stingel.
