Celebrating Female Artists

Represented in Sotheby’s Scottish Art sale is a selection of fantastic works by some of Scotland’s greatest female painters. Joan Eadley was one of the most unique artists working in Scotland during the post-war period and it is a pleasure to offer two remarkable sweeping landscapes of Catterline alongside a typically characterful and intimate view of a Glasgow tenement. There are a number of exceptional still life works by two of the towering names of Scottish Art, Anne Redpath and Dame Elizabeth Blackadder, painted in their instantly recognisable styles. We are also delighted to present a superb rendering of folded fabric by the contemporary painter Alison Watt.
