Sotheby’s is pleased to present the inaugural Contemporary Discoveries sale, held alongside the Modern Discoveries sale. These pioneering cross-category auctions feature works from Impressionist & Modern Art, Contemporary Art, Latin American Art, American Art, Prints & Multiples, and Photographs – uniting works across media and geography from the past 150 years.

We are delighted to offer works from several distinguished collections, including pieces from the collection of Mr. & Mrs. Quincy Troupe, the collection of Dr. Joseph D. Lichtenberg, property of American Filmmaker John Hughes and works from the collection of Joshua Gessel and Yoel Kremin. This sale also features property sold to benefit the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland and property from the Sam Francis Foundation, sold to benefit educational programs including the artist's catalogue raisonné project. In addition, we will offer a selection of Contemporary Realism from The Art Renewal Center (ARC) as well as a group of works from the Estate of Richard Hambleton, with a portion of the proceeds from the sale to benefit the New Museum of Contemporary Art.

Highlights include works by Contemporary artists such as Christopher Wool, Sam Francis, Hans Hofmann, Frank Stella, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Mary Heilmann and Gene Davis among many others.
