“Grandfather is a reflection of what I see every summer morning at the table: my grandfather at breakfast, surrounded by family. I wanted to capture the intricate details that speak to his past, with each item around him carrying its own narrative within his story.

I used colored pencils to build the image gradually, layering color to reflect the quiet, repetitive nature of the moment. The composition places the viewer at the table, as if sitting within the scene and listening to him share memories from his life. Focusing on small details, from the food in the foreground to the height measurements on the wall, allows each element to contribute to the sense of legacy and memory within the scene.” – Jimin Lee
