A binding made for a Della Rovere cardinal; likely candidates are two nephews of Julius II, Leonardo (died 1520) and Sisto (died 1517), who were the only cardinal-nephews still alive after 1513. The same outer border tool and small spray of flowers stamp can be seen on De Marinis 450 (a Roman binding on a Venetian 1516 imprint belonging to Grolier), and the border tool also appears on Legature papali 46 and 60, both made for Clement VII.

Title within woodcut border with woodcut Ascensius device, woodcut white on black criblé initials. (2) A-I8 K-L6: 84 leaves (last leaf blank). Title with woodcut Ascensius device, woodcut white on black criblé initials. (Occasional light marginal soiling.)
binding: Contemporary Roman blind-tooled morocco (287 x 209 mm), outer border of a repeated leafy tool, smaller leafy tool across top and bottom of frame, small spray of flowers corner stamps, central eight-pointed star made from triple blind fillets, with central gilt armorial roundel with the Della Rovere arms surmounted by a cardinal's hat, spine with blind tooling in compartments, stubs from four pairs of ties, some deckle edges.
