Folio (557 x 368mm.), 50 plain etched plates (including frontispiece and pictorial dedication to the Duke of Bedford), nineteenth-century green half morocco gilt bound by Hammond, spine with raised bands in seven compartments, gilt edges, marbled endpapers, some spotting, some plates with dampstain at outer margin (not affecting illustrations), extremities slightly rubbed


A celebration of distinguished trees by the Essex-born landscape painter and etcher Jacob Strutt (1784-1867). In this edition, dated 1826 on the title but actually from 1840, the etchings are on wove paper, whereas those of the first edition were printed on india-proof paper.
