"The Tail is Lost"


suite of four original illustrations, ink drawing on paper, comprising:


i) "Let’s have a look…", 54 by 46mm., unsigned; 


ii) "…he turned slowly round…", 60 by 47mm., unsigned; 


iii) "…he turned round the other way…", 44 by 52mm., signed with initials lower left; 


iv)"…he put his head down and looked between his front legs…", 39 by 36mm., unsigned;


all four ink drawings, mounted together, framed and glazed, very minor browning


A complete suite of drawings reproduced on page 44 of Winnie-the-Pooh (Methuen, 1926). The illustration is from Chapter 4 ("In which Eeyore loses a tail and Pooh finds one").


The title for this set is from Shepard's exhibition of original drawings at The Sporting Gallery, 26 November - 21 December 1926.
