Anti-Slavery Token [Produced for the Society for Effecting the Abolition of the Slave Trade, ca. 1790s]


Great Britain, Middlesex, halfpenny, AM I NOT A MAN AND A BROTHER, kneeling man in shackles right, rev., MAY SLAVERY AND OPPRESSION CEASE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, clasped hands; around edge, PAYABLE AT LONDON LIVERPOOL OR BRISTOL, (D&H 1038), good fine or slightly better.


The obverse design was adopted for the rare anti-slavery token issued by the American Anti-Slavery Society in 1837.
