AUCTION DETAILS
On 23 March 2017, coinciding with the Salon du Dessin and Drawing Now, Sotheby’s Paris will offer its first sale dedicated to modern and contemporary drawings. The auction combines a large selection of works on paper and will interest both expert collectors and novices alike. Neo-impressionist and turbulent avant-garde drawings from the early 20th century will be sold alongside works from the artists of the 1950s, as well as masters of contemporary art.
Paris has always been a prominent centre for the medium of drawing, ever since the soft tones of 18th-century pastels. With this selection of modern and contemporary works on paper, Sotheby’s hopes to continue this tradition and to contribute to the diffusion of this fascinating area of collection.
