Hayley Bloomingdale Visits Sotheby’s To Pick Fine Jewels Highlights

By Sotheby's

Good taste clearly runs in the Bloomingdale family. The department stores have been a staple of the fashion scene for decades and Hayley Bloomingdale, as well as being Communications Director of Moda Operandi, is an influencer and fashionista with an enviable following on Instagram.

She took time out recently to pop into Sotheby’s at New Bond Street to choose her favourites from the Fine Jewels sale, which is in London on 6 June. Take a look below at her selections.

DIAMOND TIARA, EARLY 20TH CENTURY. ESTIMATE £4,200–7,000.

"Well of course I had to include a tiara in my choices! In my very limited tiara wearing research, I have deduced that this is the ideal tiara: not too heavy, not too light, just right to sit nestled atop my head. This one is regal but not overly so, perfect for a “Princess” - even if that’s just what she’s called among her family."

"This bracelet speaks to me on so many levels, I love pieces that mix gold and platinum so this would fit right in with my current jewellery rotation. Additionally, I love that the designer, Charlotte Newman, was a trailblazer for female jewellers. She established her own eponymous company in 1885 and passed the ownership on to her daughters in a time when women were certainly not CEOs! I love the idea of wearing a piece of empowering female jewellery."

"What to say about these other than they are a classic that can be worn in this lifetime and many after it! The emeralds can be detached so the diamond clusters can be worn on their own too - two for the price of one!"

"This is my favorite piece in the entire collection; it is so delicate and classic - the epitome of elegance. Even the back of the bracelet is perfectly designed, there are no clunky clasps to do up, it glides right on and instantly makes the wearer sparkle. Alone or stacked with other bracelets, I know I’d somehow find a way to work this in to my everyday."

; AND RING, DAVID WEBB. ESTIMATE £1,400–2,200.

"The striking geometric patterns in this necklace and ring manage to make it feel both retro and very current which was, in my opinion, the genius of David Webb. I love the idea of wearing a statement gold necklace like this one with a classic crisp white button down or over a black turtleneck. Chic yesterday, today and tomorrow."

"I was immediately struck by the unique combo of amethyst and turquoise in this ring. As a cocktail ring for evening or with jeans and a blazer for day, this would be the perfect way to jazz up any look."

"These unique stackable rings really are works of art which is why I love that the stack comes with its own ring stack stand. I can so easily visualize not only wearing this rings, but putting them on display in my home."

"With built-in lipstick and two hidden compact slots this case made me feel like James Bond. The detailing on the interior is so exquisite I would probably not put anything in this and merely carry it around as another accessory!"

"These earrings are another timeless choice. The pearl accents make them feel very now, I’d pull my hair back and let these do all the talking!"

"These rings made me feel like a powerful and all-knowing sorcerer. The combination of amethyst with the diamond accented claws is very other-worldly. I’d wear two stacked on one finger and one next to them for the ultimate accent piece."
