T he Orientalist Sale presents a superb selection of more than 50 paintings and sculptures representing the landscapes, people, and customs of North Africa, Egypt, the Levant, Arabia and the Ottoman world during the 19th and early 20th centuries. From scenes of worship to bustling harem street scenes, the sale provides a unique window into a realm that has forever changed, capturing in technicolour detail every aspect of life in the region. The sale, which is open for bidding until 7 April, includes works from some of the most notable artists of the genre, including Rudolf Ernst, Fausto Zonaro amd Carl Haag.
