Biography
Caroline Seabolt serves as Vice President, Head of Modern Day Auction & American Art Specialist for Sotheby’s New York. As Head of Modern Day Auction, Ms. Seabolt is responsible for the strategy, curation, and promotion of the market-leading, cross-category sale during Sotheby’s New York Sales in May and November.
With a particular focus on American Art, Ms. Seabolt is responsible for sourcing, selling and appraising important American Art for both auction and private sale. Most recently, she oversaw the sale of Georgia O’Keeffe’s Leaves of a Plant for $12.9 million - the top selling work in the American Art category in 2025. Other notable projects include the sale of Childe Hassam’s Newport, October Sundown for $2 million in 2025 and the private selling exhibition: Illuminating Nature: Women of the Hudson River School in 2026. Ms. Seabolt maintains key relationships with buyers and sellers across the United States in a variety of collecting categories. She has brokered sales of important works by artists including Georgia O’Keeffe, Agnes Pelton, Maxfield Parrish, Andrew Wyeth, Edward Hopper, and Thomas Hart Benton.
Ms. Seabolt began her career in the Sotheby’s American Art department in 2014. She previously spent over six years in the American Art department at Christie’s, where she was a Specialist and Head of Sale for bi-annual auctions of American Art. Ms. Seabolt completed a Master of Arts degree in Art History from Hunter College in 2020. Her master’s thesis centered on the work of modernist painter Rebecca Salsbury James. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies and Art History from Georgetown University.
