On 19 August, celebrities, volunteers and supporters of the arts came together for the 69th edition of a long-standing East End tradition: the East Hampton Artists & Writers Charity Softball Game. The weekend kicked off on 18 August with cocktails and a live auction to benefit the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center, Phoenix House, The Retreat and East End Hospice. The following day, artists and writers headed to Herrick Park in East Hampton for some friendly competition. On team artists, David Goodman represented Sotheby’s, who sponsored the game in celebration of Edward Albee’s patronage of artists in the Hamptons community. James Lipton, Juliet Papa, DJ Anthony of WEHM and Fred Graver called the game. The writers claimed victory with a final score of 9-6.
