Snake Charmers: 12 Alluring Watches

  • Van Cleef & Arpels, A Large Pink Gold Wristwatch. Estimate $3,000–5,000.
The Pierre Arpels wristwatch by Van Cleef & Arpels has stunning wrist presence. The style of lugs, originally designed and patented by Cartier in 1934, is beautifully reimagined for this ultimate dress watch.

  • Greubel Forsey, A White Gold 24 Second Inclined Tourbillon Wristwatch. Estimate $125,000–175,000.
The Tourbillon 24 Seconds Incline is Greubel Forsey's third invention incorporating a movement that is truly mesmerizing to view in action. The architecturally inspired case, with its asymmetrical design, is perfectly balanced by opposing niches that contain the tourbillon carriage and power reserve sector. With an additional curved sapphire crystal set to the side of the case, it is possible to fully appreciate the tourbillon carriage in action, as it gives the impression of being almost magically detached from the gear train.

  • Signed Rolex, A Gilt, Ruby and Diamond-Set Scarab-Form Watch. Estimate $8,000–12,000.
The scarab-form watch was a popular novelty in the mid-19th century, with small revivals throughout the following century. The Rolex watch, cased in a mid-20th century scarab, combines one of the most popular modern day brands with antique style.

  • Patek Philippe, A Yellow Gold and Lapis Lazuli Wristwatch. Estimate $5,000–7,000.
The reference 3519 from Patek Philippe is a classic rectangular watch from the storied brand. The present lot was created from the factory with lapis lazuli inserts to the bezel and with an integral bracelet, all surviving in excellent condition.

  • Richard Mille, A Pink Gold Tonneau Form Split Seconds Chronograph Tourbillon Wristwatch. Estimate $250,000–350,000.
The RM008 integrates the chronograph from the RM004 and combines it with a lightweight tourbillon, all cased in pink gold. The movement itself is constructed of titanium and carbon, visible through the sapphire crystal dial.

  • Hublot, A Limited Edition Ceramic Pink Gold and Titanium Skeletonized Single Button Chronograph Tourbillon Wristwatch. Estimate $40,000–60,000.
Hublot’s calibre HUB 6300 is composed of a chronograph that is tied directly to the tourbillon cage. Combined with a 5-day power reserve, this watch’s movement is a technological tour de force.

  • Audemars Piguet, A Ceramic Automatic Chronograph Wristwatch. Estimate $8,000–12,000.
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is synonymous with the brand, and the Offshore emphasizes the sporty nature of the watch. The Ref. 26402CB distinguishes itself among the crowd with its bright white ceramic case.

  • Cartier, A Yellow Gold Wristwatch. Estimate $5,000–7,000.
Cartier’s Tank Deployante is elegantly designed with a seamless yellow gold deployant clasp that locks against the case back of the watch itself.

  • Jaeger-LeCoultre, A Pink Gold Dual Time Zone Tourbillon Wristwatch. Estimate $120,000–180,000.
This mammoth timepiece boasts a visually stunning bobbing regulator system with a cylindrical balance spring. The Sphérotourbillon rotates on two axes and is housed in a titanium cage rotating at a 20-degree incline.
