W e are delighted to present Sotheby’s Design Sales this June, bringing together exceptional works spanning more than a century of innovation, craftsmanship, and artistic vision.

Important Design traces the defining movements of 20th- and 21st-century design through distinguished private collections and singular artistic voices. Highlights include Diego Giacometti’s Promenade des Amis console from the Collection of Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue; From Royère to Lalanne: Property from a Private New York Collection, featuring works by Claude Lalanne, Jean Royère, Eileen Gray, and Alexandre Noll; and Sculpting Light, Shaping Form, a focused presentation of works by Jean Royère and Serge Mouille. The sale also features Important Works by George and Mira Nakashima: The Irene and Barry Bloom Collection, a lifetime collection of works by the celebrated designers, alongside a distinguished group of sculptures by Harry Bertoia. Rounding out the offering is a broad survey of 20th- and 21st-century design, including works by Tiffany Studios, Paavo Tynell, Maurice Marinot, Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann, Edgar Brandt, and Philip and Kelvin LaVerne.

Of Form and Color: Art and Design from the Emmanuel de Bayser Collection presents a deeply personal dialogue between 20^th century French design and contemporary art drawn from de Bayser’s residences in Paris and Berlin. Anchored by an exceptional group of works by Georges Jouve, the collection explores postwar French design through Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, François-Xavier Lalanne, and Alberto Giacometti, while works by Anish Kapoor, Günther Förg, and others reflect a collecting vision guided by a sustained sensitivity to form and color.

Art & Design from the Collection of Barbara Gladstone reflects more than four decades of visionary collecting, bringing together 20th-century design, decorative arts, and contemporary art. Works by Jean Prouvé, Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann, and Jean Royère are offered alongside artists Gladstone championed throughout her career, including Richard Prince, Alex Katz, and Kai Althoff, revealing the depth, sophistication, and personal character of her collecting eye.
