The 1990s were a decade of audacious reinvention, and Tate Britain traces how a generation of British artists, photographers and designers redefined the country’s cultural image following the economic grit of the previous decade. Curated by Edward Enninful, the show moves from DIY grunge that shaped magazines like “i-D” and “Dazed & Confused” to conceptual works by artists including Tracey Emin, Sarah Lucas and Damien Hirst. Nearly 70 creatives will chart the period’s full cultural impact, even those who challenged conventional British narratives, such as Yinka Shonibare and Maud Sulter.
