The 1990s were a decade of audacious reinvention, and Tate Britain traces how a generation of British artists, photographers and designers redefined the country’s cultural image following the economic grit of the previous decade. Curated by Edward Enninful, the show moves from DIY grunge that shaped the magazines “i-D” and “Dazed” to conceptual works by artists including Tracey Emin, Sarah Lucas and Damien Hirst. Works by nearly 70 creatives will chart the period’s full cultural impact, even from those who challenged conventional British narratives, such as Yinka Shonibare and Maud Sulter.
