“Winston Churchill: The Painter” at the Wallace Collection

23 May–29 November 2026

The statesman’s artistic side

Advance registration is required to access the Wallace Collection.

Winston Churchill started painting in 1915, amid the failure of the Dardanelles campaign during World War I, and never stopped — producing more than 500 canvases over the course of his lifetime. His subjects had a surprising range and spanned his travels, including across England, France and Italy — from early scenes of wartime Britain to views of Chartwell, his beloved country home. The Wallace Collection mounts the first major retrospective of his art in over six decades, featuring more than 50 works — half drawn from private collections — offering something new even for those who think they know Churchill’s work well.
