Amsterdam-based artist Nora Turato creates recurring bodies of work, which she terms “pools.” Her eighth cycle, conceived as a site-specific project, opens at the Bechtler Stiftung. Born in Zagreb, Turato often incorporates language into her practice, working across formats and translating gathered texts into works that include artist books, murals, videos and performances. Turato gathers these texts from her daily life — the internet, social media, press, books, film, music and conversation all form rich sources — distilling, combining and manipulating the material. “pool8” will use the length of the museum’s gallery space to display an expansive work that incorporates sound, perception and spatial experience to examine questions of transition, bodily awareness and the unknown.
