the letters to Madame Célérier mentioning Les Huguenots, referring to a rehearsal with Mlle. Cruvelli for her debut in that opera ("...Mais j'avais oublié hier qu'apres ma répétition de l'opéra comique j'avais une autre à faire à l'Opéra avec M.^lle Cruvelli pour son début dans Les Huguenots..."), discussing his wife's ill health, financial matters, practical arrangements in connection with his visits to Paris, the trousseau of his daughter Blanche, and giving her instructions how to deal with certain matters, including his newspaper subscriptions, 9 pages, plus blanks, various sizes, some on paper with Meyerbeer's embossed initials, one letter only dated Berlin, 24 January 1857

the other letters, including to Léon de Wailly (enclosing for Berlioz two tickets [not included here] to Robert le diable) and Ignaz Castelli (referring to the 'heavenly talent' of Thalberg, the bringer of his letter, and enclosing some printed editions of individual numbers from Les Huguenots [not included here], and alluding to an earlier letter of his concerning that opera), and also mentioning his late brother Michael, 7 pages, plus blanks, various sizes, one autograph envelope, Paris, Spa and elsewhere, 1836-1851, where indicated, one letter laid down on card

Thérèse Célèrier, née Gouin, was the daughter of Meyerbeer's long-standing Paris agent and confidant Louis Gouin. Following the latter's death in 1856, Thérèse took over her father's functions for the composer in the French capital.
