This letter by Goethe was written to Privy Councillor Christian Gottlob von Voigt (1743-1819) and mentions the author's famous summer house, his first place of residence in Weimar following his arrival in 1775. Over the following fifty years it offered Goethe a valuable place of creative retreat.
