First and only edition of Aldo's Greek grammar, posthumously published after his death in February 1515.

The Duke of Sutherland copy. George Granville Leveson-Gower, 1^st Duke of Sutherland (1758-1833), was an English politician and diplomat who temporarily served as Ambassador to France during the French Revolution. Possibly the wealthiest man of the nineteenth century, he amassed a large art collection and estate.

4to (199 x 147 mm). Greek and Roman type, 35 lines plus headline. collation: π² aα-rς⁸: 138 leaves. Woodcut Aldine device on title-page and final verso. (A few leaves lightly toned.)

binding: Parisian long-grained red morocco (208 x 155 mm), signed by F[rançois] Bozerian Jeune (active 1802-1818), gilt line and rope roll around sides, inner frame with flowery cornerpieces, gilt arms of Duke of Sutherland in center, spine with raised bands in six, compartments with flowery sprays around ring, pointillé ground, gilt dentelles, sky blue silk linings, double vellum endleaves, gilt edges.
