Description
AC/DC — Bon Scott
Autograph postcard to Mary Walton, [ca. August 1978]
Postcard (110 x 160 mm). To Mary Walton, in Scott's hand, with photographic portrait of prominent Wild West figures on the verso; browned, some minor creases.
A postcard to Bon Scott's close friend Mary Walton, sent while AC/DC were cutting their teeth opening on the American stadium circuit. It begins, in reference to the postcard's photo of Charlie Bassett, Wyatt Earp, Bat Masterson, and others, "No...this isn't the latest group shot. But it is close. I'm on a plane going to Seattle, Washington where we're doing a gig with Ted Nugent. Tour's going great although it's tiring. I'll be back in Aust. in January. Se ya then, ('Bon Scott'). "
AC/DC opened for Ted Nugent in Seattle on 29 August 1978, and contemporary accounts suggest they were not well-received. The band was still largely unknown in the United States at the time, and they would not achieve renown until 1979's breakthrough success Highway to Hell.
