Document signed, warrant addressed to William Sheldon, Clerk of the Cheque of the naval yard at Woolwich, 

authorising John Newberry, Master Carpenter of the Portsmouth, "to be absent from his emploiement for three months upon his owne particular occasions" providing he leave a 'sufficient Deputy', signed at the foot by Pepys and the Commissioners of the Navy, Brouncker, Sir John Mennes, Col. Thomas Middleton and Sir John Tippetts, 1 page, folio, Navy Office, 12 November 1668, toned, some marginal soiling, three ink spots

Document signed while Samuel Pepys was Clerk of the Acts to the Navy Board. He had been writing his diary during this time for almost a decade, but ceased in 1669 due to concerns about his poor eyesight.
