4to (224 x 165mm.), engraved title-page, full-page engraved illustration, woodcut initials, with final blank leaf, folding engraved plate printed in two colours (red and ochre), contemporary limp vellum, title lettered along foot of textblock, head of title-page excised (not affecting image), wormhole in quires ++ and A, other small marginal wormholes, small tears at folds of plate (not affecting image)

First printed in 1598, this description of the Turin Shroud contains an illustration of the author (the archbishop of Bologna) in front of a view of Bologna with the Shroud lifted by angels, as well as a colour-printed plate showing both sides of the Shroud; the red printing is used to show the wounds.
