Masonite: 24 1/4 by 20 inches (61.6 by 50.8 cm)

Painted in 1929.
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc., New York, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's:
This work on Masonite has a wooden framework glued onto the reverse to maintain stability. The panel is flat. The paint layer is clean and varnished. Much of the artist’s original pigment reads strongly under ultraviolet light, for instance on the left side of the face, in the shoulder on the left, and in the highlights of the sleeve on the left. There is a large section of very fluorescent color in her right forearm, almost all of which is original, except possibly the slightly more fluorescent area toward the elbow. There are other smaller accurate spots of retouching in the upper right, a few spots in the upper left and in the lower left, and a few tiny spots in the neck and chest. The restoration is very well applied, and the work should be hung in its current state.
