Thanks to our dept experience Sotheby’s is proud to announce the first 100 % Oceanic Art auction for the end of 2019. Following the groundbreaking exhibition Oceania at the Royal Academy and at the musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, this auction will present a highly selective group of objects and will promote the exceptional quality and diversity of Oceanic Art. Each piece will be chosen for its aesthetics, rarity and quality within the corpus, but also for its provenance. Our aim is to illustrate the history of Oceanic Art from the early days discovery in the XVIIIth and XIXth centuries to the XXth century.
Our OCEANIA auction will be held within the same month as our Paris sales of important Design and Art Contemporain. This timing creates excellent opportunities for cross-promotion, including cross-category exhibitions such as those illustrated opposite, as well as advertisements promoting the sale in the catalogues of these sales and exhibition length.
