Sanyu's 'Nu' Tops Record on First Evening Sale in Autumn 2019 Hong Kong

On day two of 2019 Hong Kong Autumn sale, Sotheby’s held its first evening auction of the season. Sanyu’s Nu sold for a record HK$198 million (US$25.2 million), setting a new benchmark for the artist. The sale on Saturday marks the first time the masterpiece has appeared at auction since Sanyu painted it more than half a century ago.

Following the Modern Art evening sale on Saturday, Sotheby's continues its October auction series through the weekend with sales Contemporary Art, Modern Art, and Fine Classical Chinese Paintings.
