Folio (520 x 318 mm.), hand-coloured engraved allegorical frontispiece and 102 maps (one folding "New Mapp of the Kingdome of England", the rest double-page), all hand-coloured (including 39 by Visscher, 29 by de Wit, 7 by Valck, 4 by Jaillot, 4 by Jansson, 2 by Emmiks, 2 by Allard, 2 by Mortier), each numbered in manuscript on verso at upper-right-hand margin, modern light brown morocco gilt, spine gilt in six compartments, third compartment lettered "Amsterdam 1640", gilt edges, some margins cropped close (without loss of text), folding map with closed tear at fold, some maps neatly reinforced on versos, binding slightly rubbed at extremities
