mentioning a number of his works, including Aus Italien, Der Rosenkavalier, Intermezzo, Ariadne auf Naxos, Salome, and Ein Heldenleben, offering [Dr. Hinrichsen] his Alpensinfonie for publication, describing the nature and length of the work, noting enthusiastically that it will be the best work he will write in this life, ordering large and very particular quantities of music manuscript paper which he needs to write a piano concerto for [Paul] Wittgenstein, mentioning a Mozart letter owned by his father [Bauer-Deutsch no. 1163], discussing financial matters following the end of the war, observing that even a German composer whose music is performed all over the world cannot live off the good air of Lake Geneva alone
