Edmund Blunden

FIRST EDITION, ONE OF 100 COPIES, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, 8vo, original wrappers, postcard from the author to dedicatee of inscription laid in, staples rusting
Blunden's rare first book, this copy inscribed 50 years after publication by the author: "This copy of a first attempt - and the last of its kind by me - rescued by Edward Finneron, must have my thanks and blessings to him while we talk . . . once more, Edward Blunden 8 July 1964." The identity of the recipient is unknown, but a medic of that name served in the Black Watch during WW1. A friendly postcard from the author to Finneron is laid-in. There have been no inscribed copies at auction for over 30 years.
