FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, 8vo, original wrappers, collector's folding case, residue from old label to half-title, wrappers slightly discoloured


Inscribed by the author to a Mrs. Tate—the identity of whom remains obscure. Born in 1869, Binyon was considered too old for military service. This collection includes the first appearance of "For the Fallen", perhaps the most enduring poem to emerge from WW1: "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: | Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. | At the going down of the sun and in the morning | We will remember them." A very good copy in wrappers.
