Description

Julius Pollux

Ονομαστικον... Vocabularium. (Florence: Bernardo Giunta, November 1520)

folio (304 x 200mm.), text in Greek, woodcut initials and headpiece, straight-grained red morocco gilt by Bozerian, spine gilt in compartments, gilt edges, corners slightly rubbed

A fine copy of Pollux's second-century lexicographical work, organised by topic rather than alphabetically. It was based on the Aldine edition of 1502 by Antonio Francino, who dedicated it to Thomas Linacre. This is the only text by Pollux to survive.
