Description

Jamie Reid

God Save the Queen, machine print trial proof

black print on white paper (425 x 300mm.), framed

This uses the iconic official Silver Jubilee portrait of the Queen by photographer Peter Grugeon defaced with a safety pin in her mouth. Larger versions of this, without the safety pin, were used as advertising for the single on London buses. Reid's source image of the Queen has often been misidentified as by Cecil Beaton.
