Lous and the Yakuza is an artist, actress and singer-songwriter who spent her childhood between Congo, Rwanda and Belgium. Born Marie-Pierra Kakoma, she studied philosophy, music theory, and poetry before pursuing her dream of a career in the music industry. At 22 years old, she signed with Columbia Records via Sony Music in France. Her first studio album GORE produced the international hit Dilemme. Her second album IOTA dropped in late 2022 to resounding critical success. After selling out her tour in Paris, Brussels, and NYC, Lous looks to focus on her love for art and manga while finding her inspiration for her next album.

Lous and the Yakuza chose her artist name from an anagram of the word Soul, the source of her musical inspiration, and Yakuza, the name she uses to describe her team of collaborators. Her style is a combination of trap, R&B, and pop, carried by her powerful, idiosyncratic voice.

Lous is a storyteller whose lyrics weave tales around themes such as loneliness, sexuality and existentialism and provide a glimpse into her colourful life. Her unique perspective on the works she has chosen as part of her curation makes for an illuminating interpretation.
