"She Has Been Watching Over Me for 50 Years": Sanyu, “Beijing Circus” | Sotheby's

In 1976, at a small estate sale in Minneapolis, Mary saw Sanyu's Beijing Circus for the first time.
She didn't know the artist, and she simply fell in love with the horse.
For fifty years, the painting stayed by her side.
Now, Mary is ready to let it continue its journey.

Beijing Circus is a highlight of the Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction, taking place at Sotheby's Hong Kong on 29 March.
