On 9 October, the New York Academy of Art’s 27th annual Take Home a Nude party and auction was held at Sotheby’s New York. Instead of a single honoree, this year’s event recognized 11 iconic muses: Brooke Shields, Jerry Hall, Debbie Harry, Rose Dergan, Racquel Chevremont, Helena Christensen, Zoya Loeb, Anh Duong, Alba Clemente, Louie Chaban and David Croland. Also in attendance were Naomi Watts, Liev Schreiber, Padma Lakshmi, Alina Cho and Eileen Guggenheim. The auction’s star lot was a study for the painting Sleep by NYAA faculty member Vincent Desiderio. Thanks to this work, which inspired Kanye West’s notorious “Famous” music video, and others, the live and silent auctions raised more than $900,000.
