A new chapter of the remarkable library of R. & B. L will be offered at auction, in association with Binoche & Giquello at Sotheby’s Paris on 9 October. Devoted to the second half of the 19th century, the sale will feature iconic poets and writers such as Baudelaire, Flaubert, Mallarmé, Verlaine and Rimbaud. Among the most exciting lots are an 1859 unbound copy of the Chants de Maldoror by Lautréamont and five letters from Arthur Rimbaud to his family – a touching record of the last months of his life.
