On 27 January Sotheby’s hosted a day full of activities for Old Masters and 19th Century European Art enthusiasts. Beginning with brunch, guests could explore property from upcoming live and online auctions, as well as selling exhibitions, spread over six floors. Christina Eberli, Founder, On the Flip Side, a lecture series, led a tour highlighting the significance of the back of a canvas, while Cristiana Romalli, Senior Director, Old Master Drawings, discussed new observations on the artist Francesco Solimena’s graphic style. Contemporary artists Joshua Henderson and Dina Brodsky also led sketching lessons, which guests of all experience levels could then apply when drawing the works on view in our galleries.
