A series of events celebrating the Arts of the Middle East and India sales, including Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art, 20th Century Art / Middle East and Arts of the Islamic World took place at Sotheby’s last weekend. Celebrations began with the annual Diwali party, hosted by Sotheby’s and Sanjay Newatia, with a special performance by world-renowned music producer, Talvin Singh. Followed by the Islamic brunch on Sunday 21 of October, attended by over 300 guests, and including a talk with guest speakers, Dr Heba Nayel Barakat and Dr Annabel Teh Gallop, in honour of the opening of the Albukhary Foundation Gallery of the Islamic World at The British Museum.
