Overview

Over a Thousand Years of Islamic Artistic Creation

An Exceptionally Rare 15th-Century Islamic Charger

Presenting over a thousand years of artistic creation, this October’s Arts of the Islamic World sale highlights the influence of diverse Islamic Empires across numerous and disparate locations. A monumental and highly decorated Diyarbakir mihrab pottery tile panel celebrates the 16th-century Turkish ceramics industry, whilst the Ottoman arts of the book are represented by the largest known illustration costume album comprising over 123 illustrations of courtly and daily life. From Persia, a signed and dated Safavid steel standard reflects the craftsman’s mastery of metalwork and calligraphy.
