Two compelling exhibitions lead the spring season at the Bugatti Trust Museum and Study Centre. “Verre et Vitesse – Glass and Speed” (2 April–29 May) presents a private collection of 46 automotive mascots by René Lalique. Ranging from delicate dragonflies to the iconic Spirit of the Wind, the show is a rare opportunity to experience every model and variant produced by the legendary jeweler and glassmaker for the motorcar in the 1920s and 1930s. “From Race to Road” (opening late May) turns to engineering history, tracing the legacy of the Bugatti Type 30 — the marque’s first eight-cylinder production model — whose advances in performance, sophistication and design would influence the road and racing cars that followed. Archive material including historic documents and photographs, original factory film footage and technical drawings from the trust’s extensive collection introduce visitors to the ingenuity of this pivotal model.
