Historic synagogues house a story of Dutch Judaism
The Jewish Historical Museum occupies four monumental 17th- to 18th-century synagogue buildings in the middle of Amsterdam’s Jewish Cultural Quarter. It provides a rich picture of past and present Dutch Jewish life and holds an extensive collection of items ranging from paintings to films, and from utensils to 3D presentations. At any one time there are also two temporary exhibitions on display. Inside the Jewish Historical Museum there is another attraction for children: the JHM Children’s Museum, where young visitors can learn how to bake a challah, write their name in Hebrew and enjoy Jewish music.
