“Pierre Huyghe” at Fondation Beyeler

A metaphysical and fictional approach to existence

The acclaimed artist Pierre Huyghe brings his immersive practice to the Fondation Beyeler for a site-specific experience featuring new artworks alongside key pieces and films from recent years. Known for his intersection of art, science and technology, Huyghe often considers boundaries between the living and non-living, presented in exhibitions he terms “speculative fictions.” The works displayed at the Beyeler address themes such as machine learning and dynamic systems, notably with “Apnea,” 2026, an artificial organ, curled underwater, which breathes at a human rhythm and spreads sound vibrations through the gallery space. “Alchimia,” 2026, meanwhile, features a worm conceived as an ancestor of the human unconscious which emits sounds and sputters. Huyghe’s latest film, “Liminals,” 2025, follows a faceless humanoid figure as they attempt to exist in a dimension outside time and space.
