S otheby’s is honored to partner with celebrated actor and producer Robert Pattinson, who lends his curatorial eye to the latest edition of Sotheby’s September Contemporary Curated auction as this season’s curator. Renowned for his starring roles in blockbuster films such as The Twilight Saga, Tenet and, most recently, Matt Reeves’s The Batman, Pattinson has maintained a passionate dedication to cinéma d’auteur. He has also starred in a number of critically acclaimed independent titles, including the Safdie brothers’ Good Time and Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse. Selecting an edit of six artworks from the auction that personally resonated with him and speak to his own tastes in art, Pattinson’s selection spans a variety of media, from sculpture to painting to collage, and mixes established names such as Richard Serra and Willem de Kooning with rising stars such as Genieve Figgis and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, to present a kaleidoscopic vision of contemporary art, from post-war to today. The Contemporary Curated exhibition will be on view on the 1st and 3rd floors of Sotheby’s between 24-29 September. The Contemporary Curated Sale is a Live sale on 30 September beginning at 10am EST (Lots 1-106) and 2pm EST (Lots 201-323) that will accept advance, absentee, phone and online bidding.
The September sale features a selection of trailblazing artists who define the postwar period including Willem de Kooning, Vija Celmins, Felix González-Torres and Andy Warhol, as well as innovative players on the forefront of contemporary art, including Christina Quarles, Laura Owens, Anselm Kiefer and Günther Forg.
