T his November, Sotheby’s Contemporary Day Auction is honored to present an exciting collection of works ranging from the inception of American Pop Art to today. Anchored by an exceptional selection of some of the most distinguished private collections today, the auction will feature property from the Collection of William S. Paley and the Collection of Sherry and Joel Mallin. The auction will provide a platform to showcase the incredible collecting vision and influence of each notable patron. The auction will also present works from many of the most esteemed artists from the period such as, Andy Warhol, Alice Neel, Wayne Thiebaud, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Cy Twombly as well as a platform to highlight an exemplary selection of works from living artists like Laura Owens, Barbara Kruger, Robert Gober, Mark Tansey and Banksy. The Contemporary Day Auction is also proud to offer works by recently re-discovered and pioneering artists like Ernie Barnes, Lynne Drexler, Scott Kahn and Robert Colescott. Coinciding with major current museum exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art and Fondation Louis Vuitton, the sale will also feature works by Wolfgang Tillmans and Joan Mitchell.
