During this time we have held a series of landmark sales in Scotland at both the grand Gleneagles Estate and Hopetoun House which served to put Scottish Art firmly on the international map. Since then we have developed specialist Scottish Art sales selling the finest examples of 19^th and 20^th century Scottish Art to a global market. We have established numerous world auction records and delivered exceptional results for single owner collections such as The Colourists: Pictures from the Harrison Collection in 2018. Together with the extensive experience of our specialists, we have established an unrivalled knowledge of the Scottish art market delivering exceptional results.

Scottish Art is a distinct and diverse field ranging from the great sporting and landscape artists of the Victorian period, through to the Impressionist influenced work of the Scottish Colourists and the Glasgow Boys and Girls, and now some of the biggest names in Contemporary Art such as Callum Innes, Jenny Saville and Caroline Walker. Within these fields Sotheby’s has achieved exceptional prices for many of Scotland’s most celebrated artists, including several world auction records, including the top three prices for F.C.B. Cadell.
