The first map of the county of Cornwall, here published one and a half centuries after its original publication.<ul><li>Christopher Saxton (English).</li><li>Cornwall described by C. Saxton, corrected and many additions as the roads &amp; c. by P. Lea.</li><li>London: George Willdey, circa 1732.</li><li>Old color.</li></ul> Over the years, a number of changes had been made to the plate: the original title was replaced by the view of Launceston c. 1665; the arms of Elizabeth I were replaced by those of Charles I, then Charles II; the panel of armorials were added c. 1665 by an unknown publisher; Lea added his name and Ogilby's roads in 1689 and changed the title for the second time in 1694; and Willdey added his address c. 1732. Willdey seems to have been a jack-of-all-trades: his address reads "the Great Toy, Spectacle, China Ware, and Print Shop, the corner of Ludgate Street near St Paul's London." Still, this was not the end of the Saxton plates; they were issued again by Thomas Jefferys and Cluer Dicey into the 1770s.

A <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/luxury/books-&amp;-manuscripts/book/first-edition?locale=en" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">first edition</a>, first printing of the <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/james-bond" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">James Bond</a> book From Russia with Love, by Ian Fleming, which has been <a href="https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/luxury/books-&amp;-manuscripts/book?locale=en&amp;Book%20Type=Signed%2520and%2520Inscribed" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">inscribed</a> by the author.<ul><li>Ian Fleming (English).</li><li>London: Jonathan Cape, 1957.</li><li>Inscribed by Fleming to R. Singleton-Ward&nbsp;.</li><li>Bound in the original black boards with silver titles on spine, red rose and metallic gun to the front board, in the rare dust wrapper.</li></ul> The book is inscribed with the author’s signed presentation inscription to the front endpaper, ‘To R. Singleton-Ward/ In (I hope)/Gratitude/ Ian Fleming/ 1957.’ Singleton-Ward was born in Droitwich at the turn of the century and studied as a masseur and physiotherapist in the area and was certainly still operating in the area in the 1940s. Singleton-Ward operated in Harley Street as a specialist physiotherapist in the 1950s and 1960s. This is born out in his book, My Two Hands Talk, published by Christopher Johnson in the same year as From Russia With Love, 1957. It is possible that Fleming used the book as background (as he had for Patrick Leigh Fermor’s, Traveller’s Tree for Live and Let Die) for the health clinic scenes in the book of Thunderball, either introduced to the text by a member of the publishing house, or introduced to it by one of the man Harley Street specialists he used to visit. There is a no coincidence perhaps that Thunderball (published 4 years later) opens with Bond on the physiotherapist’s table having a massage. It is possible that Singleton-Ward was able to give Fleming some background about this. The association in the presentation inscription suggests they were close or certainly friends. The rare use of Fleming's full name and date in an inscription (1957) is evidence of this. With the early Bond books, he invariably preferred to use just his Christian name or the more formal "The Author". Singleton-Ward’s address appears as 46 Portland Place W1 in 1965 (London Phone Book), but no trace after this with no mention after 1965 in the British General Chiropractors register/council.

Illustrated by ... Facts and Remarks, Extracted from a Variety of Authors, Ancient and Modern.</li><li>Philadelphia:&nbsp;Robert Bell and William Woodhouse,&nbsp;1775.</li><li>Octavo.</li><li>xxii, [8], 486; vii, [7], 477; [16], 460, [53] pages, plus publisher's advertisements in each volume.</li><li>Bound in contemporary calf, rebacked (volumes 1–2) and modern near uniform calf (volume 3).</li></ul> This lengthy political treatise is actually of the utmost interest for its espousal of a moderate political stance, and especially for having influenced the Founders. The book includes a seventy-page section on taxation of colonies, with heavy criticism of oppressive duties imposed upon the colonists. The third volume of this first American edition includes a list of subscribers, beginning with George Washington, "Generalissimo of all the Forces in America, and a Member of the Honorable, the American Continental Congress." Other members of the Continental Congress listed are Samuel Chase, John Dickinson, John De Hart, Silas Deane, Christopher Gadsden, Robert Goldsborough, John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Mifflin, Henry Middleton, Thomas McKean, George Ross, John Sullivan, Roger Sherman, James Wilson, Charles Thomson, and John Zubley. With a roster of such distinguished subscribers, one might assert that since Burgh's work was at the fingertips of these men, the book was likely of considerable influence among them. Indeed, it has been stated that "Burgh's Political Disquisitions are said to have produced a great effect upon the mind of the American colonists during the Revolution" (W. Govane quoted by Sabin). With the list of subscribers is a lengthy aside by the American editors (Bell and Woodhouse) quoting Sullivan ("It is better that 50 Thousand Men should be slain...than that 50 Thousand Men should live to be made slaves"), and castigating "any of Mr. Lukewarm's Family, who are always numerous among the timid, [who] buy this Book, and unhappily think he hath too much for the Money. He may immediately apply the following remedy — Either tear the offensive leaf out — or more effectually to punish the forward Editor — Burn the whole Book.... For some Minds are strangely squeamish, and think it a great Crime for a struggling bookseller, to support or produce Opinions, although he charge nothing for them..."

In this hand-painted, original 12-field production cel, Fievel has a hard time with Orphan's Alley bullies, named Noodles (with glasses) and Roc. They make fun of Fievel because he's looking for his family. This cel can be found around the 1:08:55 mark in the film. An American Tail is a 1986 American animated musical adventure film directed by Don Bluth. The film stars the voices of Phillip Glasser, John Finnegan, Amy Green, Nehemiah Persoff, Dom DeLuise, and Christopher Plummer. It is the story of Fievel Mousekewitz and his family as they emigrate from Russia to the United States for freedom. However, he gets lost and must find a way to reunite with them. The film was released in the United States on November 21, 1986, by Universal Pictures, four months after Disney's The Great Mouse Detective was released. It received positive reviews and was a box office hit, making it the highest-grossing non-Disney animated film at the time; the film is currently Don Bluth's second highest-grossing animated film, only behind Anastasia (1997).

Limited to just 25 pieces, it features a tourbillon paired with a unique winding system driven by two sliding platinum weights that travel along vertical rails, powering the watch through a mechanical linkage on the reverse side. The open worked dial reveals twin circular displays, one for the gear train and one for the flying tourbillon, visible not only from the front but also through lateral apertures in the rectangular case. A linear power‑reserve display at the base completes the locomotive‑inspired aesthetic, giving the watch its distinctive kinetic character.
